A Return to Baking, and a New Beginning – How Biddick’s Began
Biddick’s Bakery is proudly owned and operated by Preston Biddick, alongside his wife Natasha. After years of working in both large-scale and boutique bakeries in New Zealand, Preston stepped away from baking to take on a new challenge, managing some of Melbourne’s biggest construction projects.
But the passion for baking never left. After 12 years in the construction industry, and in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Preston made the decision to return to what he truly loved: crafting high-quality, freshly baked bread and pastries.
From a Dream to Two Stores
Opening a bakery had always been part of the plan. In July 2022, that dream became reality with the opening of Biddick’s Bakery in Warrandyte.
The response from the community was overwhelming, and in May 2024, Biddick’s Bakery expanded with a second location in Macleod.
Together, Preston and Natasha lead a small, dedicated team who share a commitment to quality, consistency and traditional baking values.
A Full Bread, Pastry and Cake Craft
Preston completed formal training in New Zealand in bread, pastry and cake baking (a full-spectrum qualification that’s rare in today’s industry). That expertise shows in everything the bakery produces, from flaky pies, sweet treats to slow-fermented sourdoughs. You’ll find the Biddick family in-store regularly, alongside a team of passionate bakers, counter staff and community-minded locals who help keep the ovens warm and the shelves full.
